Bob’s Blog - The WAPI Guy
Many different countries with smiling faces.
See Bob's blog below.
The mountains of Honduras are very majestic with flowing hillsides of plush greenery. Crops of coffee, sugar cane and vegetables dot the countryside as if to suggest a booming economy. Horse drawn carts move the products down the steep hillsides to the market place. Men with machetes holstered on their side move from place to place harvesting their next products destined for the cities below. These hard-working families labor to purchase the necessities to exist, not usually for profit.
Mountain streams amplify a sound that will catch the ear from miles away. The streams hide the fact that they are deadly because they have no life in them. There are no fish, they have been fished out. The water has been contaminated with E-coli from animal and human feces. Streams are flow-regulated by the amount of rain, sometimes very placid, sometimes a torrent of flooding water. Either way, they deliver death and sickness when the rainy season is the worst. Belen Gualcho had a very serious outbreak of hepatitis just before we arrived. They believed the cause was from the water. In these remote areas, sanitation is not understood, nor practiced. Soap is a luxury, not a necessity.

Greetings to all,
The Holiday season has come once again. The display of compassion and caring at this time of year is an amazing selfless expression of our love for one another. The unselfish act of giving, without measure, brings warmth to the giver and the receiver. This is what WAPIs for the World has experienced throughout the past year and what it seems, is the foundation of our goal. We witnessed unselfish acts of kindness since our beginning back in 2010. This past year has been no exception. Since our devices are not for sale per say, we have managed to distribute over 4,000 units around the world this year and we are still able to purchase material because of others generous contributions to our effort. A great effort by the local boy scout troop 320, in Vancouver, Washington, made and assembled 850 units and donated over $2,300 to assist us in our effort to make and distribute them to countries such as Honduras, Haiti and Ghana. Greetings to all As we enter this holiday season, may we all take a quiet moment to thank our Lord and Savior for His bountiful blessings in our lives. We at WAPIs for the World have experiences to reflect on our advancements throughout our journey. To date, we have distributed over 60,000 plus units around different areas of the world, most recently to Honduras. Who would have thought that eight years ago we would have been able to achieve such an ambitious goal?
There are many families, as of now, that do not suffer from waterborne diseases because of the devotion of so many volunteers dedicated to the WAPI project. We are making a difference! The WAPI is a simple device created by Dr. Dale Andreatta, along with Fred Barrett engineered the basic design of the WAPI back in 1998. Dr. Robert Metcalf created the scientific study of the device. Dr. Metcalf is a retired microbiology professor Emeritus from the California State University, Sacramento, USA. Their effort has had a lasting effect on many people in need of potable water. Greetings to all,
As most of you know, I recently returned from a trip to Honduras, and it was so very rewarding in so many wonderful ways. The WAPIs are distributed in many isolated locations in rural Honduras. In every village we visited there was evidences of contaminated water. Most of the villages water sources are from mountain springs and heavy rain runoff. It has come to my attention that Honduras suffered flooding recently due to heavy rain and that Proyecto Aldea Global, PAG (Project Global Village) was involved in the relief effort, I offered our surplus of WAPIs to assist in their recovery effort. |
