Why WAPIs for the World is Unique? What makes our WAPI unique and stand out from other cleaning water products? It was the efforts and achievements of Dr. Fred Barrett (USDA, deceased), who developed the prototype for the Water Pasteurization Indicator (WAPI). Around 1988, Dale Andreatta, PhD. and Dr. Robert Metcalfe, PhD. were involved in creating a workable WAPI. Because of their endeavors, over the last 12 years we at WAPIs for the World, have been able to produce and create far beyond our expectations. We are proud to say we manufacture the finest WAPIs in the world.

A Gift of Life Through Safe Water!
WAPIs for the World, is a subsidiary of Extra Mile Ministry, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization assisting globally with safe and healthy water to survive! WAPI is an acronym for, Water Pasteurization Indicator, and is used and distributed to developing mcountries and impoverished communities. We teach villagers how to use the WAPI for potable water in conjunction with personal hygiene and sanitation.
WAPIs are simple hand-made devices that are easy to use, works well, re-usable, unbreakable and therefore, has a long-life span. We appreciate our many vendors throughout the United States, who have endorsed us with their donations and support for this world-wide WAPI humanitarian ministry. All of our units are handmade and packaged by dedicated volunteers. The revenue generated, goes directly into production and shipping costs. However, we cannot succeed in this effort alone, it takes a community.

How does the WAPI work?
The WAPI is a polycarbonate tube that is sealed at both ends and contains a small quantity of a special formulated wax which melts at a pasteurization temperature which is 149°F. One WAPI is placed inside a water-pot of any size with washer down and wax up. Then bend the stainless steel wire over the lip of your pan. Cover pot with lid to prevent bugs flying into water while heating. When the specialized wax melts, it will flow to the bottom of the WAPI indicating the water is pasteurized which is 149°F, even if the water has cooled by the time, you check it. Take the water off the fire and remove the WAPI from the heat so the wax can solidify. Leave for a minimum of fifteen minutes before reuse. This allows the wax to cool down completely for accurate readings. Turn the WAPI over and pull the stainless-steel wire through to the opposite end for reuse. If you are unsure water is clean, repeat the process. Incidentally, keep fingers or other unclean things away from the cleaned water. For storage, place pasteurized water in a clean covered container to prevent insect contamination.
A WAPI can save time and fuel!
Water heated to 149°F / 65°C is free from harmful microbes, including E. Coli, Rotavirus, Giardia, Hepatitis A, and more. Fruit juice, milk and other liquids are pasteurized at temperatures well below boiling, which is 212°F / 100°C. Therefore, the WAPI is designed not to exceed the required clean water pasteurization level.
Table
The taste of pasteurized water is preferred over boiled water because it doesn’t remove minerals. It does quench the thirst, keeping the mineral requirements for the body, and takes less energy to produce. Heat is a proven process that is effective in destroying all causes of waterborne pathogens.
